这里转段老外(Fallout Answer)对核战后中国的看法:This is a good question. It's interesting to think about, but unfortunately there is currently no definitive answer in the canon. I've thought on this for some length as far as fallout history goes, but the various designers that have left their fingerprints on the venerable fallout line just cant make up their minds on china's fate.
Fallout 1,2 and Tactics imply multiple times that there is at least *something* left alive in china, but a (somewhat) "thriving" wasteland style semi-civilization is very unlikely. Most of the data on this comes from the Shi, the chinese nuke-sub descendants who took over san francisco, the terminals in san fran (fallout 2) provide some clues, but the documents that would say anything definitive are left corrupted in their computers, I guess the developers wanted to leave something of a door open for chinese involvement in sequels, but weren't sure what they wanted that to be.
The only definitive canon information about china and the Great War is that they launched the first bombs as the american t-51bs were marching into bejing, what happens after this is left to your imagination, but it is heavily implied that little to nothing would be left. There would probably be some tribals left in mongolia and the western subjugate states (both china and the US did major land grabs in the resource wars and thus grew vastly in size in the last few decades before the Great War), and if you think about it, no one really has any reason to target Taiwan with their nukes in the fallout universe (...except china themselves...) so its likely that Chinese *culture* would survive to some extent, but its very clear that the US vastly surpassed china in technological prowess (they had stealth suits that were nifty, but literally everything else mentioned in the pre-bethesda canon regarding china technologically was inferior), and it is specifically mentioned that the US had at least some modicum of a missile defense system (which is probably why there's as much left as there is in the US wasteland) that protected the mainland, Even if china was researching something like this, hell even if they had produced a functioning one, it wouldnt have done much good as the american troops pouring across china at the time would likely have destroyed/commandeered/accidentally broke whatever they had (remember the resource war had basically been won by the US at this point) so the government of china and all the major cities would have been unquestioningly destroyed, probably with much less left than in the US (no Boneyard in china).
This synopsis makes the most sense, and is the most likely based on the hints given in fallout 1,2, tactics, and it appears to be the assumption the bethesda games are operating on (though this could easily be retconned whenever necessary, no one in DC or vegas is going to know fuck all about contemporary china). So the *most likely* canon answer is china is effectively gone. Maybe not literally gone, but far too gone to base a game around so not likely to play much of a role in future fallout games.
