I heard that 狗日的 is swearing...but wot does it actually mean?

As far as I know it is nothing to do with Japan. 日 is a first tone ri, meaning F***K. If you are really annoyed or F**Ked off in some circumstance (eg bad service) you can say 我日啦, apparently equivalent - for F**k;s sake, sod me, etc!

As I understand it, 不甚 means "not very", such as 不甚乐观 (not very optimistic), 不甚诚实 (not very honest). But then, I came across this sentence:
希望您能不吝雅教, 我将不甚感激。
What does "我将不甚感激" really mean here? It can't mean "I'll be very grateful", can it?
(The context suggests this interpretation but the literal meaning seems to suggest the opposite here! :-))

不甚感激 = 不怎么感激
不胜感激 = 非常感激

(This problem should help me to remember that many Chinese speakers pronounce "n" and "ng" in the same way.)

Skylee is being very diplomatic in saying it is a typo. It is probably more correct to say that it is quite a common mistake in Chinese.

Q:宅 - A colloqualism?

According to my dictionary and youdao, 宅 means 'residence'. I suspect the usage below is sort a slang. What does it mean in this context? Thanks!

A:Original meaning of the word"宅“means the place ppl live, same as house.
In the context, "宅”is an adj, it means a state of being at home all the time, with no social activities at all.

君子翻译的确实很雷

而且个人觉得，古诗这种强调韵律，讲究押韵的文体，如果按英文字面意思翻译出来，根本就没有了味道。应该学好中文后再去欣赏，根本不用翻译。
