I. INTRODUCTION
--------
Prologue
--------
A few years before the Chosen One would begin his/her mystic run through the Temple
of Trials, a mysterious stranger wearing armor trades with the village of Arroyo.
The Chosen One is fascinated with the armor and the Arroyans ask the stranger many
questions about armors. Many villagers view the armor as either beautiful
decorations or as a source of good raw materials for building and eventually agree
to trade for a few different suits of armor.
Many armors are taken apart almost immediately upon acquisition. With a keen
interest in armory, the Chosen One finds a dismantled piece of Armor. However, the
Chosen One viewed armory as clothing, not decor. Wishing to try on a suit of armor,
the Chosen One sneaks the dismantled pieces of armor to a secret hiding place and
tries in vain to reassemble the pieces.
One day, the same mysterious stranger who introduced armors to Arroyo returns to
trade, and the Chosen One shows him the dismantled armor. With the stranger's help
and direction, the Chosen One is able to repair the armor to full working condition!
The Chosen One would never forget the lessons learned this day.
The Chosen One is ready to begin his quest armed with the knowledge taught by this
mysterious trader -- knowledge that allows for salvaging armors that may have been
damaged in combat!

About the MOD
-------------
With this MOD, your character will be able to salvage any armors from fallen enemies
in combat. For example, your character will be able to pick up a suit of Leather
Armor from the corpse of one of Metzger's slavers, a Leather Jacket from a dead
highwayman in the desert, and a suit of Metal Armor from Tyler and his guards at
the church in the Den.
Basically, if a character looks like he is wearing a type of armor, you will see
that type of armor in the inventory of the character's dead body. There are a few
exceptions, as some NPCs have the ability to camouflage their armor. That is to
say, they appear to be wearing one type of armor but actually have the protection
stats for a better type of armor! The Chosen One will automatically correct for
this subterfuge when he/she loots the dead body. You will encounter this
phenomenon, for example, if you choose to terrorize Vault City.
Notable exceptions:
1. The troopers found dead at Klamath Canyon had chosen not to wear any armor
until landing their Vertibird and thus do not wield any armor. (The
suits of armor are either supposedly sealed within the crashed Vertibird or
disintegrated beyond repair from the horrific crash!)
2. The Mysterious Stranger (from the Perk) will "disappear" as mysteriously as
he/she appeared when he/she dies. Weapons, ammo, armor, stimpacks and anything
in his/her inventory will instantly vanish as the life force of this helpful
stranger ceases. Though you would still see the dead corpse, no inventory can
be recovered from it.
II. REQUIREMENTS
To make this MOD work, you will need:
1. A patched version of Fallout 2 (version 1.02). If you do not have the official
Fallout 2 patch, you may download it at:
http://www.nma-fallout.com (No Mutants Allowed)
To access this file, click on "Downloads", then "Fallout 2 Downloads".
2. The 'MOD Runner' program by DIMS. You may also download this at No Mutants
Allowed.
To access this file, click on "Downloads", then "Fallout 2 Downloads", then
"MOD Utils". Be sure to install the MOD Runner in the same directory that
you installed Fallout 2.
III. USING THE MOD
1. Unzip the loot1000.dat file into the same directory that you installed Fallout 2.
2. Run 'MOD Runner'.
3. Select the 'loot1000.dat' MOD.
4. Click on 'Run game' and enjoy!
IV. KNOWN ISSUES & BUGS
1. It is possible to grab the armor off 2 of Rebecca's guards in the Den, NCR cops,
the NCR gate guard, the NCR Captain of the Guard, and one of Vortis' slaver guards
during combat.
2. The game will crash if you attempt a field bet of $200 or $1000 in Duppo's secret
gambling table.
V. FIXES
1. New Reno bartenders give discounts instead of price hikes for being Prizefighter,
Made Man, or conqueror of the Enclave.
2. Eldridge gives permanent discounts for "knowing Jules", for being a Made Man, and
for defeating the Enclave. Note that the discounts may not be evident immediately
after Eldridge first mentions them, but will definitely factor in the next time the
Chosen One talks to Eldridge.
VI. COMPATIBILITY
Due to the extensive range of characters that this MOD deals with, this MOD will
FAIL to run concurrently with many other MODs. However, the Infinite Party Members
MOD v1.002 should work just fine with the Lootable Armors MOD. The Vertibird MOD
might also work with this MOD at the same time though it hasn't been tested yet.
Furthermore, MODs that only modify weapons are likely to work just fine with the
Lootable Armors MOD.
Note that if this MOD runs with any MOD that adds new NPCs that appear to be
wearing armor, then the new NPCs will not have any armor to loot when they die.
VI. MISC
I would like to dedicate this MOD to a long-lost friend of mine named Matt. Matt,
like myself, is quite the Fallout fan, and I remember his salivating (not
literally... hehe) over the aspect of getting Metal Armor while helping Lara get
her job back in the Den. He complained about the "disappearing armors", and 4 years
from that day, I finally have the solution to his problem. So Matt, if you're out
there, I hope you enjoy it because this one's for you!
