killap's Fallout 1.02+ US Only Patch - Version B
==================
Patch Information:
==================
This is an "unofficial" patch for Fallout 2 which attempts to continue where the official 1.02 patch left off. Over 500+ bugs that were still present in the 1.02 version have been fixed. I try and limit my changes to actual bug fixes and not just include random changes that are not always needed/intended. If you have any questions/comments feel free to e-mail me at "[email protected]" You can also find me on the No Mutants Allowed forum found at http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/ If you cannot reach me by e-mail, I suggest posting there. Thanks and enjoy the patch!

*READ BEFORE INSTALLATION*
==========================
Your Fallout 2 CD can come in three different versions.
1. Fallout unpatched (1.0)
2. Fallout patched (1.02) with a file called patch000.dat
3. Fallout patched (1.02) without a file called patch000.dat
?If your game comes as number 1, then all you need to do is install version 'A' of my patch (which is not what this is) following the installation instructions below.
?If your game comes as number 2, then delete the file called patch000.dat found inside your Fallout 2 directory and install version 'A' of my patch (which is not what this is) following the installation instructions below
?If you game comes as number 3, then version 'B' (which is what this is) should be used.

Installation:
=============
The folder that contains this readme should also contain a folder titled "data." This is the folder that contains all the fixes and files needed to run this patch. Select and copy all the files that come with this patch. Now, go to your main Fallout 2 installation directory. If you used the default setup, the directory should be located on C:\\Program Files\\BlackIsle\\Fallout2. Once you are in your Fallout2 directory, you should see a bunch of files. (fallout2.cfg, fallout2.exe, and so on.) There will probably also be a folder in here already named "data." (If not, there will be one soon) Now, paste the files that you just copied moments ago into your main Fallout 2 directory. Windows will ask you if you want to overwrite the contents. Say yes. You should now have a folder called "data" in your Fallout 2 directory and when you go inside it, there should be a bunch of folder called "Art," "Data," "Maps," " roto," etc. That's it! You have just successfully installed this patch. Enjoy!
There is no real easy way to verify that the installation was successful, but the easiest is to find a bug from the list below and see if it is fixed. If it is, then you are good to go!
NOTE: If this is the first time you have used my patch, then you will have to start a new game since previous save games will no longer work.

Frequently Asked Questions:
===========================
Q: I just finished the Temple of Trials and the pipboy already says I completed quests in Redding or other locations. What gives?
A: Did you follow the installation instructions above? Most likely you still have the patch000.dat file in your Fallout 2 directory. If so, remove this file and RESTART the game.
Q: How do I know if this patch is installed correctly?
A: Well, sadly there is no straight nor easy answer to this. The best thing you can do is check the list of changes in the corrections text file and see if the issues mentioned are indeed fixed. The quickest check is to ask Maida Buckner in Klamath where Redding is. If she says it is to the "south east" rather than the "south west" then the patch is working as it should.
Q: I am moving REALLY slow on the world map. Why is this?
A: This patch comes with an improved .exe file for faster computers (1Ghz CPU or above). Everyone complained that the world map was too fast with modern computers and thus this .exe is included. To revert back to normal speeds, just download the official 1.02 patch corresponding to your language. Next, extract the file to a separate directory. Now, copy ONLY the Fallout2.exe from that file and replace the one that is in your Fallout 2 directory. Speeds should return to normal.
Q: The world map is still too fast even with this improved .exe file. What gives?
A: The improved .exe is balanced to work well with the majority of people. At the moment there is nothing more that can be done. Do remember that though it still seems fast, before it was even worse.
