You should definitely let him know in one way or another that you're interested. Whether he has face issues or succumbs to his peers pressure about status are issues that you can jsut be sensitive to but he has to deal with.
I knew a Blond German girl with excellant Chinese who found a long term relationship with a Chinese guy. The Chinese guy was not quite a normal Chinese guy. He had lived and studied in Germany for 2 years, went to the Gym 3 or 4 times a week, had a Zhou Jay Luan handsome face and good family background. Plus a good degree from Nanjing U the 4 best University some say in the Country. He was a nice guy, though knew how attractive he ways aswell.
The issues they some times had was these things that made attractive to German girl made him incredibly attractive to Chinese girls, I'm talking white on rice cluster flirting. He didn't have afffairs that I knew of but everytime he went to the bar he could talk with any number of Chinese girls there. This attention sometimes got to the German girlfriend. I think he moved to Germany in the end and things were more stable after that. Also that they had had experience in Germany and he knew how to romance helped a lot. (Some Chinese guys have good intentions but can be clumsy at romance and showing affection.)_
